Сardboard corner
Cardboard corners have appeared on the domestic market relatively recently. The area of their application is constantly expanding, but today it is safe to say that it is difficult to imagine numerous types of packages without protective cardboard corners.
They form the basis of the packaging, creating a reliable framework and combining with other packaging units. Most commonly, packaging cardboard corners are used in unison with other packaging materials, such as cardboard packages, stretch films, pallets …

Frequently, cardboard corners are also used for packaging of goods on the pallets. It is worth mentioning that nowadays plastic protective corners are also in a high demand as they form an even more reliable basis for packaging groups of goods.
Plastic protective corners are more reliable during longer transportation of goods, as well as when operating with heavier loads.
However, these types of corners were not able to oust the cardboard corners from the market due to its higher cost.
The main advantages of cardboard and other types of protective corners:
Protecting the edges of the roll materials during fixation onto the pallet
Product rolls are grouped and secured together with protective corners. The corners form the framework of the package, which is easy to cover with a protective film or other packaging materials. Adjustable length of the protective corners enables easy forming of the package that fully matches the dimensions of a particular cargo.
In general, with the proper application of the protective corners, it’s possible to fully abandon the use of stretch film – the usage of the corners in combination with the packing tape is quite sufficient.
Edge protection during packaging of sheet materials
When packaging sheet materials, cardboard corners also play a very important role – they form the edges of the package and protect the goods from all sides. Carton or plastic packing corners are installed along each group of sheets to prevent damage to the edges of the cargo during transport.
In this case, the packing corners perform not only protective functions, but also fix the goods together, securely fixing it in a strong framework.
Strengthening the rigidity of the packaging structure with cardboard corners
Often, cardboard corners are also applied to strengthen the rigidity of ready-made packages. Frequently traditional packaging materials are too soft, so they need to be strengthened for better protection of goods during transportation or long-term storage. Protective corners are especially relevant in this sense when packing fragile goods. Cardboard corners play the role of a protective frame of the package, ensuring rigidity for the structure. Commonly, cardboard corners are used as load-bearing structures for packages of costly or very heavy crago.
Protection of trays (pallets) from scattering
Cardboard and plastic corners can be used to protect trays and pallets from scattering when large groups of goods are packed.
Standard stretch film or packaging tape are not able to hold the entire group of goods around the perimeter, therefore, for durability, the packaging is reinforced with a protective corners frame.
As a result, a group of goods that differ in dimensions and sizes turns out to be reliably bonded and does not disintegrate during transportation.
Protection of roll materials edges by bending cardboard corners
Cardboard corners that have a rouletting on one of the sides of the corner, have flexibility sufficient for packaging large-sized rolls.
During this, the corner is fixed on the roll with strapping tape, placed on top of the bent corner, which prevents the unwinding of the roll.
A cardboard corner ensures reliable protection of the end edges of the roll materials.
Cardboard corner protection of corrugated boxes
Corners for corrugated boxes protect the edges of the boxes and create additional rigidity during the packaging.
In the process of stacking boxes reinforced with cardboard corners on the palleta, the number of rows increases. It is also possible to use cardboard corners with an adhesive layer on the outside of the corner.
Cardboard protective corners with an adhesive layer
The use of cardboard corners with an adhesive layer enables you to create additional commodities and make the packaging process more technological. As a rule, the adhesive layer is made in the form of a duct tape, and can be applied both to the inner and on the outer side of the corner.
